For outdoor exercise, a 30-mile paved bike path connects Johnstown to Newark, the county seat of Licking County.
Johnstown's town square, designed in the 19th century, is surrounded with family-owned restaurants, retail stores, a coffeehouse, and an ice cream shop. Its weekly newspaper, The Johnstown Independent, has been in circulation since 1884.
